Melbourne: In a standout performance on Wednesday at the Australian Open 2024, Alexander Zverev scripted a significant chapter in his tennis journey by securing his first Grand Slam victory against a Top 5 opponent.

The sixth-seeded German displayed an exceptional level of play as he triumphed over World No. 2 Alcaraz with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-4, securing a coveted spot in the semi-finals at Melbourne Park for the second time.

A key element of Zverev’s dominance was his remarkable 85 percent accuracy on first serves, a testament to his precision and control on the court.

Throughout the match, Zverev showcased his prowess by winning an impressive 73 percent (69/94) of points behind his initial deliveries, laying a solid foundation for his overall game. The opening two sets witnessed a masterful combination of effective serving and impeccable groundstrokes, as Zverev successfully neutralized Alcaraz’s powerful shots.
