
Bhubaneswar: In a concerning revelation, Women and Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram informed the State Assembly on Friday that a staggering 11,010 cases of domestic violence, including dowry torture, have been reported to the Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) over the past five years.
Responding to a query from Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Minister Hembram disclosed that out of the 11,010 cases reported to the OSCW, the Commission has adjudicated in 8,441 cases, delivering its verdict. However, 2,569 cases are still sub judice, awaiting resolution.
