
New Delhi: Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor has assumed the prestigious appointment of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Training Command (TC) on May 01, 2024. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Air Marshal Kapoor brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.
Commissioned into the Fighter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 06, 1986, Air Marshal Kapoor is an alumnus of prestigious institutions such as the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College. A Qualified Flying Instructor and a Fighter Combat Leader, he has accumulated more than 3400 hours of flying experience, showcasing his proficiency and skill in the cockpit.
Throughout his illustrious career, Air Marshal Kapoor has held a multitude of field and staff appointments, demonstrating his versatility and leadership capabilities. His operational stints include commanding a fighter squadron in the Central Sector and serving as Station Commander of a flying base in the Western Sector. He has also served as Air Officer Commanding of a premier air base, overseeing critical operational activities.
In addition to his operational roles, Air Marshal Kapoor has made significant contributions in instructional capacities, serving as Chief Instructor (Flying) at Air Force Academy and as Directing Staff at the esteemed Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. Notably, during his tenure at the Air Force Academy, he played a pivotal role in the induction and operationalization of PC-7 MK II aircraft in the Indian Air Force.
Air Marshal Kapoor’s extensive staff appointments include serving as Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Strategy) at Air HQ, Air Defence Commander at South Western Air Command, and Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Central Air Command. Prior to assuming his current appointment, he served as the Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel at Air HQ.
In recognition of his meritorious service and outstanding contributions to the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Kapoor has been honored with the Vayu Sena Medal in 2008 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022, underscoring his commitment to excellence and dedication to duty.
