AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s Dr Manita Tamang Wins UC Chakroborty Award for Pediatric Surgery Research

Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar has once again made headlines with a momentous achievement as Dr. Manita Tamang, a final-year Senior Resident in the Department of Pediatric Surgery, was conferred the coveted UC Chakroborty Award at IAPSCON 2024, held at AIIMS Rishikesh. This award is regarded as the highest honor for exceptional research among Pediatric Surgery residents across India.

The recognition highlights Dr. Manita’s groundbreaking contributions to the field, selected from a competitive pool of applicants nationwide. Of the numerous submissions, only seven candidates advanced to the final stage, showcasing the significance of her victory. The award selection was overseen by a distinguished panel, including the Chief Editor of the Journal of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons and other eminent experts in the field.

Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, lauded Dr. Manita’s exceptional achievement during a felicitation ceremony held at the institute. Praising her hard work and dedication, Dr. Biswas remarked, “Achievements like these not only recognise the perseverance of our young doctors but also bring immense pride to our institution. The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Medical Superintendent Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, Head of the Pediatric Surgery Department Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanty, and esteemed faculty members Dr. Subrat Kumar Sahu, Dr. B. B. Tripathy, and Dr. Aditya Manekar.
