AIIA Celebrates 10th International Day of Yoga with Focus on Women Empowerment

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi celebrated the 10th edition of the International Day of Yoga with a grand event themed ‘Yoga for Women Empowerment.’

The event was graced by the presence of Sister BK Shivani, a renowned motivational speaker, who served as the Chief Guest. In her address, Sister Shivani lauded AIIA for its systematic approach in extending services related to Ayurveda and allied sciences to society. She emphasized the importance of perseverance and the transformative power of yoga in improving humanity. “A peaceful mind cultivated through yoga aids individuals in making informed decisions for the welfare of society,” she said, highlighting that women empowerment is essential for comprehensive development. She further stressed that continuous development, akin to the growth seen in a hospital’s infrastructure and human resources, is crucial.

Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA, inaugurated the event with a speech emphasizing the institute’s infrastructure and its pivotal role in promoting Ayurveda and yoga. She appealed to attendees to celebrate Yoga Day by empowering women, guiding and strengthening minds, spirits, and souls. Dr. Nesari pointed out that Ayurveda and yoga are intrinsically linked, with Ayurveda representing the physical aspect and yoga the spiritual aspect of a unified practice. She urged everyone to not only teach but also practice both disciplines.

Bhavna Saxena, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, praised the various performances by students from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, including a vibrant Yoga Fusion Programme. She remarked that women empowerment encompasses both economic and spiritual dimensions, reflecting a holistic concept.

To mark the occasion, AIIA launched a booklet on Therapeutic Yoga and introduced a 5-day Common Yoga Protocol to be performed at various iconic locations in Delhi by AIIA scholars. The institute also announced initiatives such as Ayur-Yoga promotion at international borders in collaboration with ITBP officials, Ayush institutions in Northeast India, health camps, distribution of health kits, and yoga awareness programs at old age homes and AIIA’s hospital block.
