Agriculture Officers to Undertake Regular Field Visits for Farmer-Centric Scheme Implementation

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen farmer-centric delivery of schemes and programs, the Department of Agriculture & Farmer’s Empowerment, Odisha has directed its officers to undertake regular field visits across districts and blocks. A notification to this effect was issued today by Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee.

The initiative aims to make government schemes more people-oriented by directly engaging with farmers and frontline workers in the agriculture sector. Through on-ground interactions, officers will identify challenges faced by cultivators and assess the actual situation at the grassroots level.

As per the guidelines, senior officers including the Director, Additional Director, Joint Director, Deputy Director, and various scheme officers will visit different agricultural fields across the state on a regular basis. Following each visit, officers are required to submit a brief report to the Principal Secretary within a week.

Additionally, all Heads of Directorates have been instructed to prepare a monthly tour calendar to ensure systematic coverage of districts, with special focus on aspirational blocks and vulnerable areas.

Officials believe this step will not only improve scheme monitoring and accountability but also foster better coordination between farmers and government machinery, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of agricultural programs in Odisha.
