Adivasi Mela 2025 to Begin on January 5 in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s capital is set to host the much-anticipated State-Level Adivasi Mela 2025, a celebration of tribal heritage and culture that promises to transport visitors to a traditional tribal village. Scheduled to run from January 5 to January 16 at the Unit-3 IDCO Exhibition Ground.

This year’s fair holds special significance as it coincides with Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, hosted in Odisha for the first time. Organized by the ST&SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department, the mela is poised to captivate visitors with its unique blend of culture, history, and artistry.

One of the central attractions will be a carefully recreated tribal village, featuring 20 huts that reflect traditional lifestyles. Alongside, 147 stalls will showcase and sell a variety of tribal goods, giving attendees an opportunity to experience the vibrant diversity of tribal craftsmanship. Additionally, 40 stalls will be dedicated to art and craft displays, while 15 will feature live demonstrations, offering insights into the intricate techniques used by tribal artisans.

The Bhagwan Birsa Munda Pavilion will serve as the cultural centerpiece of the fair. It will house five galleries focusing on the life and journey of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the contributions of national and state freedom fighters, tribal paintings, a photo exhibition, and mini theatre performances. These exhibits aim to highlight the historical and cultural significance of Odisha’s tribal communities.

Evenings at the mela will come alive with tribal dance and music performances, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors. Adding to the spectacle will be a laser show inspired by Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s life, a drone display focusing on Odisha’s tribal communities, and a light and sound show celebrating tribal freedom fighters. A fashion show showcasing traditional tribal attire and a grand fireworks display will further enhance the cultural extravaganza.

With its diverse offerings, the Adivasi Mela 2025 is set to provide an unforgettable experience, blending tradition and innovation to honor the spirit and contributions of Odisha’s tribal communities.
