
Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards accelerating urban transformation in Odisha, Mio Oka, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), met with Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, at Kharavela Bhawan, Bhubaneswar today. The meeting focused on forging deeper collaboration to support sustainable and inclusive urban development across the state.
Key discussions revolved around the formulation of a comprehensive Urban Mobility Plan, aimed at facilitating sustainable city growth, improving accessibility, and enhancing the overall livability of urban areas in Odisha. The plan is expected to address critical aspects of urban transport, traffic management, and last-mile connectivity, aligning with global best practices.
The ADB also expressed its willingness to support Odisha in accessing the Urban Challenge Fund from the Government of India, and in extending technical assistance and knowledge support for various urban development initiatives.
Both parties underscored the importance of integrated urban planning, innovative financing mechanisms, and institutional capacity building to meet the growing demands of urbanization and to ensure equitable service delivery.
