Bhubaneswar: Actor-turned-politician Akash Dasnayak has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha on Sunday, a day after tendering his resignation from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Dasnayak, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Korei constituency in Jajpur district, made his transition to the BJP official at the party’s Odisha unit headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
He previously served as an MLA on a BJD ticket in 2014. The star campaigner for the BJD, cited a “loss of self-respect” within the ruling party as the primary reason for his resignation. He formally tendered his resignation to BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik before making the move to the BJP.
