Bhubaneswar: Actor-turned-politician Akash Dasnayak has officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha on Sunday, a day after tendering his resignation from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

He previously served as an MLA on a BJD ticket in 2014. The star campaigner for the BJD, cited a “loss of self-respect” within the ruling party as the primary reason for his resignation.
