Bhubaneswar: ‘Odisha Women in Media’, a trust of women professionals working in media and related fields in the state, was launched here on Saturday.
Attending the event, Bhubaneswar Mayor and former journalist Sulochana Das appreciated the formation of the association and bringing together all the women journalists and media professionals under one umbrella.
“The floating of the trust has been the culmination of a long-standing requirement,” she said.
It will enable women media persons to discuss their professional issues and problems, Das added.
Congratulating all the women media professionals for the launch of the forum, Minati Behera, Chairperson of the State Commission for Women who also attended the event said that more women need to enter the field of media.
Over 100 women journalists and media professionals working in Odisha came together for the launch.
The new trust aims to work towards upholding moral values and gender equality while endeavouring to ensure the development and empowerment of women and protect their professional rights.
It will be headed by senior journalists Kasturi Ray as Chairperson, Sarada Lahangir as Vice-chairperson, and Minati Singha as Secretary.
