On January 31, 2025, M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd in Thane witnessed the launch of the 9th ACTCM Barge, LSAM 23 (Yard 133), marking another milestone in India’s defense manufacturing capabilities. The launch ceremony was graced by Cmde R Anand, AGM (COM)/ ND (Mbi), who served as the chief guest for the event.
The barge is part of a series of eleven Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile Barges being constructed under a contract signed on March 5, 2021, with MSME Shipyard, M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd. These barges have been indigenously designed and built in collaboration with an Indian Ship Designing firm and the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).
The construction process involved comprehensive model testing at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) in Visakhapatnam to ensure the barges’ seaworthiness and operational readiness. The shipyard has already delivered eight of these barges, which have been successfully integrated into the Indian Navy’s operational fleet. The barges play a crucial role in facilitating the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of articles and ammunition to Indian Navy platforms both alongside jetties and in outer harbors.
