Bhubaneswar: A total of 506 students graduated from the World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar, on Friday after completing advanced industry-oriented training programmes, with more than 93 per cent of them already securing placements in leading national and international companies.
Skill Development & Technical Education and Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, who attended the seventh graduation ceremony as the chief guest, said skill development has become a key driver of Odisha’s economic growth and workforce transformation. He said the state is focusing on equipping young people with next-generation skills to support the vision of Samruddha Odisha by 2036 and contribute to the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Congratulating the graduating students, Swain said the ceremony symbolised not just academic achievement but the emergence of a future-ready workforce capable of meeting the demands of rapidly evolving industries in India and abroad.
Women accounted for 261 of the 506 graduates, representing more than 51 per cent of the graduating batch, reflecting increasing participation of women in advanced technical and industry-linked skill education.
Officials said over 93 per cent of the graduates have already received job offers from reputed companies. Among them, eight students have secured placements with Dubai-based Al Ghurair, highlighting the growing international recognition of Odisha’s skilled workforce.
On the occasion, the Minister also inaugurated the Spatial AI Lab at the World Skill Center, developed in collaboration with EON Reality (USA) and ITEES (Singapore). The facility aims to provide students with hands-on training in emerging fields such as Spatial Artificial Intelligence and Geospatial Technologies, strengthening the institution’s focus on future-ready skills.
