5 Servitors of Puri Jagannath Temple Returned from Kumbh Mela Test Covid+ve

Jagannath temple servitors who returned to Puri after attending Kumbh Mela have been tested covid positive.

According to the district officials, 127 people returned to Odisha after attending the mela of which 36 were sevayats from Puri. The report of five sevayats came positive.

So far 47 sevatyats and 30 staffs of the temple have been infected with the virus.

Considering the rising number Covid cases, the state government has banned entry of the general public in the century old temple till May 15. Only daily rituals will be allowed by the sevayats.
