Uttarakhand: A story of resilience and unwavering determination unfolded in Uttarakhand as all 41 labourers, trapped for 17 days in Silkyara tunnel, were successfully rescued. The jubilant scenes of reunions marked the end of a challenging and high-stakes rescue operation that captivated the nation.
The ordeal began on November 15 when the labourers, working deep inside the Silkyara tunnel, found themselves trapped following an unexpected collapse. Efforts were made to rescue them using various rescue measures however, the daunting conditions of the terrain made the rescue mission difficult with time running short.
On Monday, a major breakthrough came when a team of rat-miners, specially trained for such operations, was deployed. The rat-miners expertise played a pivotal role in reaching areas inaccessible to machinery. Their efforts, combined with manual excavation in the final stretch, ensured the safe extraction of all trapped individuals.
Medical teams at the site are providing immediate care to all the rescued labourers in a temporary medical camp set up.
