35th Konark Festival and Sand Art Extravaganza Begin Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The iconic 35th Konark Festival is set to begin tomorrow, promising five days of cultural splendor from December 1 to 5. Held on the open-air stage near the famed Sun Temple in Konark, the festival will celebrate India’s rich classical dance heritage and artistic traditions.

Jointly organized by the Tourism Department, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademy, the event will feature captivating performances of classical dance forms such as Odissi, Kathak, Manipuri, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Bharatanatyam. Each performance will narrate stories of devotion, love, and mythology, creating a mesmerizing experience for attendees.

The festival’s venue, bathed in golden lights, sets a magical backdrop for the artistic extravaganza. Enhancing the cultural celebration is the International Sand Art Festival, held at the picturesque Chandrabhaga Beach.

Sculptors from across India and abroad will converge at the beach to create breathtaking sand sculptures, reflecting themes of culture, environmental conservation, and social issues. The Sand Art Festival, running parallel to the Konark Festival, promises to be a visual treat, showcasing the creativity and talent of global artists.

With its seamless blend of performing arts and visual splendor, the Konark Festival offers a unique opportunity to immerse in Odisha’s cultural richness and artistic diversity. Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable experience celebrating India’s timeless traditions against the backdrop of the historic Sun Temple.
