
Bhubaneswar: The 2nd ProDG Classical Chess Tournament, organized by the Professional Chess Training Academy (PRO-CHESS-TA) in collaboration with the Sports & Youth Services Department, began today with over 100 participants competing for top honors. The tournament, running from 28th September to 2nd October, is set to be one of the most prestigious state-level chess events this year.
The opening ceremony was graced by Additional Secretary of the Sports & Youth Services Department, B K Swain, who extended his best wishes to all participants. In his address, Swain emphasized the importance of PRO-CHESS-TA as a key platform for nurturing chess talent in Odisha, particularly as a stepping stone toward national and international competitions.
IM Swayangshu Satyapragyan, Administrator of PRO-CHESS-TA, highlighted the presence of prominent international talents, including International Masters (IM) Rakesh Jena and Saundarya Pradhan, whose participation brings an added layer of competitiveness to the tournament. He also mentioned rising stars like Sriyansh Das and Priyansh Das, promising a thrilling showcase of skill and strategy.
The tournament aims to provide emerging chess players a chance to hone their skills, gain experience, and prepare for larger national-level competitions. It brings together seasoned players and budding talent, fostering a spirit of competition that is essential for success on the national and international stages.
