Ayush Health and Wellness Centres
New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush is spearheading the implementation of Ayush Health and Wellness Centres (AHWCs), recently renamed Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush), under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This initiative is part of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the National Ayush Mission (NAM) and aims to establish a holistic wellness model based on Ayush principles and practices. The transformation of existing sub-health centres and Ayush dispensaries into Ayush Health & Wellness Centres is expected to ensure universal access to an expanded range of primary health care services tailored to meet the needs of the populace.
Under the NAM, State/UT Governments have submitted proposals through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs), resulting in the approval of 12,500 units of existing Ayush dispensaries and sub-health centres for upgrade to Ayushman Arogya Mandir. According to reports received from States/UTs, a significant milestone has been achieved with 12,121 Ayushman Arogya Mandir centres now functional across the country.
In Odisha, 422 Ayushman Arogya Mandir centres are operational, providing enhanced health services to the state’s residents.
This information was disclosed by the Minister of State (IC) for Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today. The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting holistic health and wellness through the integration of Ayush practices in primary health care.
