20th National Good Governance Webinar Focuses on 'Promoting Excellence in Sports and Wellness through Khelo India Scheme'
New Delhi: The 20th edition of the National Good Governance Webinar Series for the year 2023-24 was conducted on January 31, 2024, with the theme “Promoting Excellence in Sports and Wellness through Khelo India Scheme.” The webinar, in line with the Prime Minister’s directives, aimed to share experiences and best practices from past award winners of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration.
The presentations during the webinar focused on initiatives taken by districts that were honored with the PM’s Award for the year 2021. Specifically, insights were shared on the efforts made in District Churu, Rajasthan, and District Bishnupur, Manipur, under the Khelo India Scheme.
Shri Sidharth Sihag, the then District Collector of Churu, Rajasthan, and presently Joint Secretary to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, presented the initiatives taken in District Churu. Shri Lourembam Bikram, District Collector of Bishnupur, Manipur, presented the initiatives taken in District Bishnupur.
The webinar was chaired by Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG). The event saw the participation of Joint Secretaries and senior officers of the Department, as well as attendees from 559 locations across the country. This included Administrative Reforms Departments of States and UTs, District Collectors, State and District Sports Officers, and officers from Central and State Administrative Training Institutes.
The initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision to hold virtual conferences/webinars, inviting past award winners to present their experiences, facilitating greater dissemination and replication of successful practices. The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) has conducted 20 National Good Governance Webinars since April 2022, each attended by around 1,000 officials from various government departments, state governments, district collectors, and training institutes.
