180 Platoons of Police force to be deployed for Rath Yatra in Puri

Bhubaneswar: In preparation for the upcoming world-renowned Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and His siblings in Puri, extensive police arrangements have been made to ensure the event proceeds smoothly and peacefully.

A significant deployment of 180 platoons of policemen will be stationed for the Rath Yatra, according to DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi. “We have prepared a comprehensive police arrangement for Rath Yatra. Senior officers have been assigned various responsibilities and have already conducted reviews. I have also conducted two reviews myself. All security arrangements and police bandobast are in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful Rath Yatra,” DGP Sarangi stated after attending the State-level review meeting for the event in Puri.

In addition to the police force, the Coast Guard will patrol the coastline with boats and a helicopter. “The Coast Guard has agreed to our request to patrol the coast. They will be deploying boats and a helicopter for patrolling. Moreover, we will deploy bomb disposal squads, four anti-sabotage check teams, and sniffer dog squads to prevent any possible sabotage,” Sarangi added.

Given the visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Puri, security arrangements are being made following protocol and provisions of the Blue Book. “We have made arrangements for her carcade, place of stay, and place of function. The President’s helicopter will land at Samang, and her carcade will first come to Raj Bhavan. On the same day (Rath Yatra day), she will visit Sri Mandir for darshan. All necessary arrangements have been made for that,” Sarangi assured.
