10th Phase of Induction Training for 104 PGT Teachers Begins in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Around 104 newly appointed Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) from various subjects are attending the 10th phase of an induction training programme being organised by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education at IMAGE, Siripur, Bhubaneswar.

The five-day programme is aimed at strengthening the professional skills of teachers appointed to Government Higher Secondary Schools and Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools under the School and Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha.

The inaugural session was attended by Jugaleswari Dash, Director, Directorate of Secondary Education; Niyati Pattnaik, Director, Directorate of Higher Secondary Education; Joint Directors Sasmita Mali and Snigdha Mishra; and Deputy Director C. H. Vijayalakshmi, among others.

Addressing the participants, Dash highlighted the important role of PGTs in the higher secondary education system. She said induction programmes were essential to improve teaching methods and make classroom learning more student-centric and effective. Adopting modern pedagogical practices and innovative teaching techniques, she added, would help teachers strengthen students’ academic abilities and contribute to their overall development.

Pattnaik emphasised that continuous professional development of teachers was fundamental to improving the quality of education. She said the five-day workshop would not only enhance teaching skills but also familiarise the newly appointed teachers with their administrative responsibilities.

Joint Director Sasmita Mali delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives of the training programme, while Snigdha Mishra proposed the vote of thanks. Deputy Director C. H. Vijayalakshmi coordinated the programme.

Appointment letters were earlier issued to around 1,211 PGTs through the Nijukti Mela. The newly appointed teachers have been undergoing induction training in different phases in Bhubaneswar. With the commencement of the 10th phase, more than 1,200 PGT teachers have now undergone the programme.
